Technician Training: Mission/Contacts
Mission
The National Maintenance Training Center has been missioned by NGB-ARL-M to provide Maintenance Training and Instruction on the M-2/3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle to ARNG Maintenance Technicians. The training and instruction consists of a combination of Field and Sustainment level tasks, in Hull, Turret, and troubleshooting techniques. The course is designed for ARNG Maintenance Technicians that work at a CSMS, MATES,
UTES, or FMS that have responsibility to repair M-2/3’s. The instruction is
four weeks in length Monday through Friday 0700 – 1600 each day. There is no instruction on weekends. All instruction is a combination of classroom and hands on with the end item and special diagnostic gear.
Course dates may be found in ATRRS under School Code 966, Course Number: 964-BFBMI.
There is also a modified version of the instruction that is appropriate for M-Day Soldiers that are MOS qualified 63M’s that are assigned to Forward Support Companies – (Maintenance Platoons). The course design is 11 or 12 days in length and is a scaled down version of the 20 day course offered to military technicians. The instruction will be offered to Heavy BCT’s that are authorized the M2/3 BFV and will be given by the same staff that teaches the Technician training course. The M-Day training course will be similar to the technician course, but modified to fit either a two or three week annual training period.
The NMTC Operations personnel will schedule the Heavy FSC (Maintenance Platoons) to train at the NMTC during periods that the Technician course is not being conducted.
The equipment used in the conduct of the instruction is a mix of Bradley Fighting Vehicle M-2A2’s and the M-3A2ODS Version. As the force fielding moves to the all-ODS version, the ratio of ODS version BFV’s will change to support the fielding plan.
