Technician Maintenance Training Course

insert Technician Maintenance Training

The National Maintenance Training Center (NMTC) currently hosts four maintenance training opportunities for Army National Guard Technicians. These courses involve M1 Abrams, M2/3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle (BFV) the 3000 gph Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU) and maintenance of the M88A1 Recovery Vehicle. Technicians that work at various State Maintenance and Training Equipment Sites (MATES), Unit Training Equipment Sites (UTES), Combined Support Maintenance Sites (CSMS) and Field Maintenance Shops (FMS) are eligible to attend these courses at the NMTC on Camp Dodge. These are excellent courses for the Technician that has little or no experience working on the above pieces of equipment, or a technician that just needs some refresher training. None of the above courses are MOS qualifying or producing.

All Technician instruction includes the most current Repair Procedures using the approved Army Technical Manuals as a guide. All courses are taught by knowledgeable and qualified Contractor Instructors. The NMTC is located on Camp Dodge, which provides the latest in modern maintenance shop operations and Soldier/Technician comfort annuities. Students will stay in modern air conditioned facilities, complete with High Speed Internet service. Technicians do have the option of staying off post, at the expense of the State the Technician is from. A typical Student day is from 0730-1630 hours with an hour lunch break technician students need to bring along clothing that is suitable for both inside and outside instruction in all types of weather conditions.

Enrollment into these courses is through the ATRRS system, or by contacting the NMTC Technician Maintenance Training Operations office at the numbers below. Technician supervisors should coordinate through their state School Manager in the Human Resource Office (HRO). Both the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and Abrams Tank Course is four weeks (160hours) long. See ATRRS school code 966, course #964-M1MIC/964-BFBMI for specific course dates. ROWPU Training Instruction is 40 hours in length, offering instruction in repair of the generator, trailer and the ROWPU system. The M88A1 Recovery Vehicle Maintenance Course is 80 hours in length.
