Quartermaster Transportation: Mission/Contact
Mission
Quartermaster and Transportation training is a new functional area of training recently initiated at the NMTC. The dynamic and robust training is available for all Soldiers attending the NMTC with a focus on Soldiers who hold the following MOS: 88M, 89B, 92A, 92F, and 92W. Logistics Warriors attending Quartermaster and Transportation training receive superb instruction on the Composite Risk Management (CRM) the day they arrive to ensure all safety measures are in place. All Soldiers are allowed to attend/ conduct AARs after every major training event has occurred which lend themselves to a richer learning environment. Additionally, logistic leaders receive instruction on Troop Leading Procedures (TLP), Tactical Operations Center (TOC) set-up, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) development. In an effort to mitigate HAZMAT issues select Soldiers are trained and certified in Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) operations allowing them to haul ammunition and fuel. After training is completed, the instructor provides a detailed report of the training conducted with a final AAR distributed to the leadership and forwarded to higher commands as necessary.
The training Soldiers receive throughout their NMTC rotation is assessed by conducting a live technical and tactical exercise. During this phase of the operation, all members of the quartermaster and transportation sections assemble and their training is put to the test. Leaders receive an OPORD, conduct TLPs with their team, and perform a mission that incorporates all MOSs of the quartermaster and transportation section. The mission becomes more challenging as team members encounter IEDs, Civilians on the Battlefield (COB), and leaders receive FRAGOs, all while trying to navigate from one point to another. Simultaneously, they respond to selected Warrior Tasks and Battle Drills such as React to Contact and Perform Voice Communications. This culminating exercise validates what the Soldier understands on the performance their job in every situation, from garrison support to sustaining the war fighting efforts. The NMTC is focused on helping the Logistics’ Warriors support the combatant commanders, while given the opportunity.
