| Sustainment Maintenance: CRC/STP
MISSION: The Sustainment Training Program (STP) provides Component Repair Companies (CRC) with components to repair during their IDT training periods. The Army Materiel Command (AMC) components provide a live maintenance mission for Unit Commanders to use in the execution phase of their IDT training program. The program reinforces the lessons learned during Annual Training.
The components available to the units represent realistic, modern Army equipment that comes directly to the NMTC from TACOM. NMTC initiates a memorandum of agreement that identifies components the unit will receive, as well as, the total class IX funding they will receive from NMTC. Components are Evac. work ordered to the various STP units using SAMS-E, and upon completion the items are returned to the NMTC for testing and final inspection prior to their distribution back into the Army supply system.
STP units enter the program under a “crawl” phase so Unit Commanders and the NMTC become familiar with a unit’s personnel strength and capabilities. STP units identify Soldiers to receive training at the NMTC to become Subject Matter Experts (SME’s). These Soldiers facilitate the training and repair of the components throughout the year on IDT weekends, and act as a liaison between their own maintainers and NMTC staff should any questions arise.
Once deemed appropriate, STP units advance to the “walk” phase, where they receive additional, and possibly even more complex, components for the following training year. Then the “run” phase begins where a unit receives components relevant to its maximum potential. Advancing or regressing between the stages is a result of communication between the NMTC and STP Unit Commanders and is a direct result of Unit strength and capability.
STP units are granted access to a collaborative AKO web page designed to assist them should questions or concerns arise during the course of their training year. This web page allows STP units to communicate with each other and with NMTC staff to ensure that a quality product is produced by the unit, and that Soldiers are getting the proper training to accomplish their missions.
