Command Sergeant Major Rick G. Ernst

Command Sergeant Major Rick G. Ernst was assigned as the Command Sergeant Major of the National Maintenance Training Center in November of 2009.

As the Command Sergeant Major he is responsible for soldier welfare as well as enforcing individual training standards on current doctrine on maintenance and logistics with an emphasis on sustaining the Brigade Combat Team. He provides counsel and mentorship to the NCO support channel and to the chain of command.

Command Sergeant Major Ernst enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1983, attending Basic Training at Fort Dix New Jersey and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Command Sergeant Major Ernst has served in a variety of assignments in Combat Service Support, Combat Support  and Combat Arms units to include Generator Repairman 53 QM Co, Service and Recovery NCOIC 53rd QM Co, Motor Sergeant 53 QM Co, Supply Sergeant Co B 234th Sig Co, Ground Support Equipment Repair PLT SGT Co B 334th FSB, Maintenance Control NCO Co B 334th FSB, Distribution  PLT SGT Co A 334th FSB, S 2/3 NCO 334th BSB, Support Operations NCO 334th BSB, 1SG Co B 334th BSB, Operations Sergeant Major 2 BCT, Operations Sergeant Major for a Provincial Police Mentor team Afghanistan, Command Sergeant Major Mentor ETT for the 3rd Brigade Afghan National Army, Command Sergeant Major 334th BSB , Command Sergeant Major for the National Maintenance Training Center and as the Command Sergeant Major for the 734th Regional Support Group.

His military education includes TAMMS/PLL Certification course, Motor Sergeant Certification Course, Support Operations Course, BLC, PLDC, Basic and Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course and the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy. He is qualified as an Infantryman, Mechanical Maintenance NCO, Automated Logistics NCO, Senior Supply Sergeant and Power Generation Repair NCO. He has a degree from Central Texas College.

Command Sergeant Major Ernst’s awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Medal numeral 4, NATO (ISAF) Medal, Over Seas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge and the Driver/Mechanic Badge.
