Battalion Staff Training: Warrior Simulation Center

insert

    Types of Simulation Training Aids:

  1. Virtual Convoy Operations Trainer (VCOT). This training aid has multiple stations that simulate driver and gunner positions on tactical vehicles. The purpose is to train and prepare soldiers for various convoy missions over a variety of scenarios.

  2. Warrior Skills Trainer (WST). This training device utilizes the EST-2000 concept for crew and team level operations training. Currently there is one HMMWV that has a table driver station, TC station, and a gunner station. This system also has dismounted capability.

  3. EST-2000. Currently there are two 5 lane systems and one 10 lane system available for use. The intent is to have these lanes as collective lanes for squad and platoon training. Individual and crew served weapons will be available for use.

  4. Call For Fire Trainer (CFFT). This simulation training aid adds a new dimension to call for fire training not only for qualified Forward Observers but for any soldier desiring to enhance their ability to accurately call for fire. This system will accommodate up to four students and one instructor at one time and has the ability to simulate Mortar fire as well as artillery fires.

  5. Laser Marksmanship Training System (LMTS). This system includes the Laser Convoy Counter Ambush Training System (LCCATS) and BEAM HIT system. These systems are used for Marksmanship and react to contact. It has the capability of using the M249 and M24 sniper rifle.

  6. IED Simulators. There are 155 Simulators as well as Booby Traps and Land Mines.

  7. The Operator Drivers Simulator (ODS. The ODS is a system that has multiple Truck Configurations, such as, M915, M939, FMTV, HEMTT, PLS, HET  and trailers in various operating conditions. The National Guard-ODS truck simulator is a computer-based system used for training drivers and for refining the skills of the experienced drivers by replicating typical and emergency driving conditions and situations. These situations can be tailored to each student’s needs to provide varying levels of training, from truck driving basics to specific skill review and assessment. This system requires a pass/fail option with accurate scoring.  The situations can be repeated until the desired skill is learned without endangering personnel or damaging equipment. The simulator contains all of the functions and controls needed for conducting driver training.

  8. Digital Tactical Operations Center (Digital TOC). The DTOC is designed to accommodate up to a BDE size TOC for training of BDE Staff personnel. This system will be tied in with all the new automated systems currently under development. Additionally, the ability to tie BN level cells into this DTOC will be available. The BN cells will be portable within the WTC and external shelters can be set up outside of the WTC building for maximum participation of BDE assets. The DTOC will have modern computer systems for tenant use along with various plasma screen systems, proxima systems, data and voice inputs, etc.

    Future planned systems:

  1. Language Lab. This software training system has the capability to provide training on many different languages for various theater operations. It will be an interactive training system that allows the student to train at their own pace. The training will have voice speak back capability and will react positively or negatively to responses by the student as they progress through the various scenarios.

  2. Roll-over Trainer. This training system is much like the egress trainers used by the USAF and USN for flight crews. It will train soldiers on the correct responses to vehicle rollovers and can be configured to conduct water egress training if this becomes a requirement.
